Sad news came from Liam Payne, former member of the boyband One Direction. The British singer was reported to have died in Argentina, Wednesday (16/10) evening, local time.
“Yes, Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel,” said the police statement, reported by detikPop, Thursday (17/10/2024).

Argentine media reported that the incident began with a 911 emergency call at around 17:04 local time. According to the report, there was a man in the hotel who was behaving aggressively because he was suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Police from 14B and a medical team from the Emergency Medical Attention System (SAME) immediately came to the location.
Unfortunately, when they arrived at the scene, paramedics confirmed that Liam Payne was dead. According to the Head of SAME, Alberto Crescenti, the 31-year-old man fell from a height of about 13-14 meters.
The injuries he suffered were so severe that there was nothing more the medical team could do.

Photos seen by TMZ show Liam’s body lying on the hotel deck with tables and chairs around him, and his tattoos are clearly visible—a clock on his left arm and a scorpion on his stomach.
Witnesses said the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 in Buenos Aires. Liam had previously been reported to be behaving uncontrollably in the hotel lobby, even destroying his laptop and having to be carried back to his room.
Police and paramedics were present at the hotel, and authorities immediately covered up Liam’s body as they began investigating his death.
Liam was in Argentina to attend a concert by his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan, and they even reunited at the event, according to TMZ.
This week, reports emerged that Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry accused him of leaving her after asking her to have an abortion. Maya’s lawyers have even tried to file a cease and desist order to stop Liam from contacting her.
Liam Payne was a member of One Direction, formed in 2010 on the UK show The X Factor, alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. The boyband quickly dominated the world music scene, scoring numerous hits and gaining millions of fans.
Liam joined One Direction at the age of 16, and the group became one of the biggest boy bands in the world after being formed in 2010 on The X Factor. One Direction eventually disbanded in 2015, and Liam is known as one of their main songwriters.
In June 2021, Liam revealed that he had struggled with addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs during One Direction’s tour.
